Dr Riyadh Al-Ameri from Deakin University presents his research on reusing medical plastic waste and recycled glass in concrete production and the construction industry.

Al-Ameri received his PhD in Structural Engineering from Cardiff University (UK). He has since spent time in both industry and academia, and now focuses on infrastructure and the environment, with a specific research interest in the durability of concrete and composite structures. His research on reusing waste plastic and waste glass in concrete has had a significant impact on several sectors including the construction industry, waste management, environmental protection, and the health sector.

Al-Ameri has been listed by Engineers Australia as Australia's Most Innovative Engineer (2018). He is also the recipient of the Victorian Regional Achievement and Community Award (2018), the Excellence in Industry Collaborations Award (2014), and Teaching Excellence Award (2012).
